From 1 Oct 2026, every exporter of services in India files an EDF with their AD bank, and that includes freelancers. There is no minimum amount: no threshold exists in the regulation. The EDF is due within 30 days of the end of the month in which you raise the invoice.
Every month in which you raise an invoice to a foreign client needs its own EDF, due 30 days after that month ends. One form covers all of that month's invoices. Months with no invoices need nothing. For services other than software, HDFC also accepts the EDF "on or before the date of receipt of payment" if that comes first.

As of October 2026, banks are giving different answers. Your AD bank is the bank that receives the foreign currency. If your Indian bank receives rupees by NEFT from a platform, ask the platform and your bank in writing; our tool produces the form either way.
Many branches accept emailed PDFs from your registered email; some insist on ink. We give you both variants.
Your profile, clients, invoices, generated PDFs and, if you choose, your signature image. Everything sensitive is encrypted; servers are in India; you can delete it all.

Only when you choose to upload one. An invoice, a GST certificate or a cancelled cheque is sent once to OpenAI under zero-retention terms, the suggested values are shown for you to check, and nothing is saved until you press Save. You can always type the details instead.
The file is sent once to OpenAI under zero-retention terms, so it is not kept there or used for training. On our side the file is deleted as soon as it has been read, at most an hour later; only the values you review stay on screen, and nothing is saved until you press Save. The PAN, GSTIN, IEC and account number you save are encrypted at rest. If you prefer, type the details in instead.
Your first three monthly packs are free. Paid plans will be announced; nothing is charged without your consent.
