EDF for ICICI Bank customers: what we know so far
Last reviewed
ICICI Bank customers file the same monthly EDF as everyone else. We have not seen an ICICI format for services yet, so this page sticks to what we know and what to ask your branch.
Has ICICI published guidelines yet?
“even the major private banks (ICICI, HDFC, Axis etc) have not come up with any guidelines”
As of 10 October 2026, we have not seen an ICICI-specific EDF format for services. That does not mean your branch has none. It means we cannot show you one, and we will not guess at it.
What we know
- The rule is RBI's, not the bank's: one EDF a month for every month in which you invoice a foreign client.
- It is due 30 days after the end of the invoice month, at ICICI as at any bank.
- You file with your AD bank, the bank that receives the foreign currency. If that is ICICI, you file with ICICI.
- One EDF can cover all of the month's invoices.
What we do not know yet
- Whether ICICI wants its own format for services, and what it looks like.
- Whether it wants a spreadsheet as well as the signed PDF.
- Which email address or portal your branch uses for EDFs.
What EDF Filing gives ICICI customers
Until ICICI publishes a format, the pack follows the details RBI's EDF asks for: your name, address, PAN, IEC, AD code and account, each client and their country, the invoices with dates, amounts and currencies, the purpose code and the totals. It contains:
EDF
One form for the month in our layout, with the details RBI's EDF asks for and every invoice listed.
Cover letter
Addressed to your branch Trade Desk, listing the enclosures.
Checklist
A last page for your records. It is not submitted.
If ICICI publishes its own format, we will add it, and this page will say so.
Where to send it
Send it to your branch Trade Desk, the team that handles foreign exchange paperwork, or to your relationship manager (RM). Email it from the address registered with the bank. If the branch asks for paper, print it, sign it in ink and hand it in.
Four questions to ask your branch, in writing:
- Which format should I use for my monthly EDF for export of services?
- Do you accept it by email from my registered address, or only on paper?
- Should I send it to the branch Trade Desk or to my relationship manager?
- Do you want the invoices and the cover letter in the same email?
Submission checklist
- EDF checked line by line and signed by the authorised signatory, with the company seal.
- Copies of all the month's invoices attached.
- Covering letter signed.
- FIRA or bank credit advice: collect it later, after each payment is received, and keep it with this pack.
Common questions
Has ICICI Bank published its own EDF format for services?
We have not seen an ICICI-specific EDF format for services as of 10 October 2026. Ask your branch Trade Desk or relationship manager (RM) which format it wants, and keep the answer in writing.
Where do I send the EDF at ICICI?
To your branch Trade Desk or your RM, by email from the address registered with the bank. If the branch asks for paper, print it, sign it in ink and hand it in.
What does EDF Filing produce for ICICI customers?
An EDF laid out with the details RBI's format asks for, a cover letter to your Trade Desk listing the enclosures, and a submission checklist for your records. If ICICI publishes its own format, we will add it.
Is the due date different at ICICI?
No. The due date comes from RBI's rule, not the bank: 30 days after the end of the month in which you raise the invoice.
EDF Filing is a document generator; you remain the declarant. Nothing here is legal or tax advice.
