EDF due dates for every month to December 2027

The EDF is due 30 days after the end of the month in which you raise the invoice. The table below works that out for every month to December 2027, in India time.

How the date is worked out
Take the last day of the month in which you raised the invoice, and add 30 days. A month with 31 days moves the date to the 30th of the next month; a short February moves the January date into March.
It is the invoice date that counts, not the payment date. One EDF covers all of a month's invoices, and months with no foreign invoices need nothing.
For services other than software, HDFC also accepts the EDF "on or before the date of receipt of payment" if that comes first. Other banks may set their own practice, so ask your branch.
The filing date and the payment date are different things
The realisation period is the time you have to receive payment for an invoice: 9 months from the invoice date, or 12 months if the invoice is raised or settled in INR. It runs separately from the filing due date above. When the money arrives, the bank matches it to your EDF using the IRM number on your FIRA, the advice the bank gives you for each foreign payment.

Common questions
When is the first EDF due?
For invoices raised in October 2026, the EDF is due by 30 Nov 2026.
How is the due date worked out?
Take the last day of the month in which you raised the invoice and add 30 days, in India time. That is why January 2027 invoices are due on 2 Mar 2027: February is short.
Do I file in a month with no foreign invoices?
No. Months with no invoices to foreign clients need nothing.
Is the due date the same as the date I must be paid by?
No. The realisation period, the time you have to receive payment, is 9 months from the invoice date, or 12 months if the invoice is raised or settled in INR. It is separate from the filing due date.
