EDF for HDFC Bank customers: the format and where to send it
Last reviewed
HDFC Bank has its own EDF format for exporters of services. This page shows what it contains, where it goes, and what to attach, with screens from our tool.
My bank (HDFC) does not know anything about this. Now what?
“my bank (hdfc) don't know anything about this and WISE said to contact bank, now what am I supposed to do”
Counter staff at many branches had not seen the new form in early October 2026. Ask for the branch Trade Desk instead: the team that handles foreign exchange paperwork. If your account has a relationship manager (RM), they can route it there.
HDFC has published its own format. It is a workbook named "Export_declaration_form_and_request_letter_Services", with a request letter sheet, an EDF Annexure sheet and invoice detail sheets. The bank asks that no changes are made to its structure, column headings, formulas or bank-populated fields.
What goes in an HDFC EDF pack
Request letter cum EDF
HDFC's Export of Services format, every field filled from your saved profile, with your signature and seal placed if you choose.
Annexure
The EDF records for the month and their invoices, with the total in figures and words. HDFC's own workbook is filled in as well, structure untouched.
Cover letter
Addressed to your branch Trade Desk, listing the enclosures.
Submission checklist
A last page for your records, telling you what to attach. It is not submitted.
HDFC's instructions allow one request letter for the whole month: "For bulk submissions, the customer may submit one consolidated EDF Request Letter along with the completed EDF Annexure." Each annexure row is one client in one currency, with its invoices listed. You can see the layout in the watermarked sample PDF, which uses made-up data.
What it looks like in EDF Filing
How do I submit this EDF form to HDFC Bank?
“how the F do I submit this edf form to hdfc bank. Nobody knows and the bank also doesn't know.”
Send it to your branch Trade Desk or your RM, in one of these ways:
- Email the signed PDF and the workbook from your bank-registered email ID to the trade desk.
- Or hand in a printed, signed copy at your branch.
- Or upload through a trade portal, if your branch offers one for EDFs.
Branch acceptance of scanned signatures varies. If your branch asks for a wet-ink signature, print the request letter, sign and stamp it by hand, and submit the paper copy. EDF Filing gives you both variants and does not send anything to the bank for you.
Submission checklist
- Request letter checked line by line and signed by the authorised signatory, with the company seal.
- Annexure workbook attached unchanged; the bank reads the EDF records from it.
- Copies of all the month's invoices attached.
- Covering letter signed.
- FIRA or bank credit advice: collect it later, after each payment is received, and keep it with this pack.
After you submit, keep the bank's acknowledgement and note the date. If the branch returns the form, My bank rejected my EDF lists the reasons we know and what to do.
Common questions
Which form does HDFC Bank want?
HDFC's Request Letter for Export of Services and EDF Filing cum Disposal Instructions, signed, with the completed EDF Annexure. HDFC publishes both in one workbook and asks that its structure, headings and formulas stay unchanged.
Where do I send the HDFC EDF?
To your branch Trade Desk, the team that handles foreign exchange paperwork, or to your relationship manager (RM). Send it from the email address registered with the bank. Some branches want a printed copy signed in ink, so ask which they accept.
Can one request letter cover all my invoices for the month?
Yes. HDFC's instructions say: "For bulk submissions, the customer may submit one consolidated EDF Request Letter along with the completed EDF Annexure." Each annexure row covers one client and currency.
Will HDFC accept a scanned signature?
Many branches accept emailed PDFs from your registered email; some insist on ink. We give you both variants.
